Flight of The Gibbons
GypsySoul: After we landed in Cambodia and checked into Onederz Hotel , we got picked up by Yut from the Ankor Zipline in a Rickshaw. We didn't know at that time that he is going to be our guide. I kept explaining to him with action that we need to eat lunch somewhere on the way(assuming that he cannot understand English!!!). I also told Tommy to convey to Yut that we nee to eat on the way.
Narrow Miss! Tommy came to the hotel and we had already left! We will never get to see the face of this anonymous well wisher!
Yut took us to this amazing serene laid back restaurant with thatch huts and hammocks. What a perfect place to hangout! Quite literally!
The food was yummy too!
Lush green everywhere we turn. Slow hum of the rickshaw. Gentle breeze on our faces. Ancient ruins and stone walls covered in moss lining the small dirt road. We are the only people around. Is this a scene from a movie? Is this a dream? Pinch me please...
We got suited up! Only now we realized that Yut is not just a rickshaw driver but our guide for the zipline adventure! He speaks very good English too :)

We were still a little clueless what we were about to experience
Bird's eye view!
We were above the tree tops. We climbed several steps to get this high up and felt like a Gibbon swinging on the branches. We could not see the ground from here. The branches and leaves were so thick under us it felt other-worldly! As long as I had the harness I felt fearless. I really enjoyed the soaring feeling.
Yut was shaking the bridge when Papu was walking :)
There was fear in Papu's eyes. She was crawling on all fours when she was climbing the steps making sure she had sure footing.
When I thought we could not go any higher, when it seemed like we had reached the heaven's doors...oh no...there were more steps that pointed up! We were climbing from tree top to a taller tree top to yet another taller tree top! We felt like Jack ascending on the giant beanstalk! This definitely is an adventurous fairytale!
Our guides Yut and Orn were very funny guys who made the whole experience very special. Yut kept pulling my leg, which I didn't even realize most of the time till later! Such a tubelight :)
Doing the final zipline across the treetops was so thrilling!
On the decent down, Yut asked me to hold on to the rope while her repelled down. I was sincerely holding it with all my might hoping it doesn't flip me off of the scaffolding.
It felt exhilarating finishing this course with adrenaline pumping in our veins. We felt very accomplished and we were also very relieved that we were in one piece at the end of the course!
Yut and Orn took us on a nature walk in the woods.
Yut and Orn are really cool and funny!
We saw leaf cutter ant colony, a huge tarantula in a hole and few other insects. Yut told us that if the tarantula did not live inside the protected area people would have eaten it long back. He said that he catches crickets and cooks them for snack
Time to get back to our hotel
On the way back to Onederz it was pouring down. We had to put the rain guard down on the rickshaw to keep ourselves dry.
Thank you, Jesus, it stayed dry for the ziplining adventure.
I can't imagine how it would have been if it rained like this when we crossed the suspension bridge between the treetops!
We are not super duper lucky Tommy...we are super duper blessed by the God of Heaven and Earth!
Dragonfruit shake and chicken satay hits the spot on a rainy day!
Cheers!
Here's to many more days of wonders at Onederz :)
